Recovery Waves, Rhythm, and the Final Stretch

Six weeks of learning, living, and loving at ISDM, one more week to finish Term 1 strong

Hey beautiful humans,

Recovery isn’t linear

What a week of ups, downs, and everything in between. Recovery isn’t linear, it’s messy, surprising, and full of small victories.

Nami Weekly Timeline

PLC presentations with the whole cohort felt surreal but empowering after being sick.

I managed 1.5 hours of real sleep (a win!)

though I’m down 5–7 kg from last week’s illness. My body is still catching up, but my spirit is getting stronger.

A heart-filling family call and then stumbling into Demon Slayer with friends reminded me how much small comforts matter. Sometimes anime hits different when you need hope and heroes.

There was beautiful chaos too, rushed morning reading, RM quiz brain fog, and then blessed rain. Pao opened a café at ISDM serving organic green tea, a small joy with a big lift.

Organic green tea tastes like hope.

Reality also landed hard! a placement session left everyone quiet and thoughtful. I found my roomie still checking placement data late into the evening.

Advocating for morning DAD sessions (11:30 AM for both sections) felt necessary, sometimes you have to ask for what helps you learn.

“Furious Friday” a rough start redeemed by Language Day’s beauty and Garba practice for Navratri. Pure, infectious joy.

Room 404
Went fully non-veg this week (sorry, vegetarian friends). Deeper than food, we’re exploring how thoughts and notes shape our lives, the river flow of ideas in uncharted territory.

Farewell to Yash raj, will may meet again

What I'm learning:

  • Recovery comes in waves 1.5 hours of good sleep beats 8 hours of restless tossing

  • Family calls heal in ways medicine can't

  • Organic green tea tastes like hope

  • Dancing Garba reminds you your body can still create joy

  • Sometimes you have to advocate for your learning needs

  • Thoughts really do shape reality 404's deep dives prove it

Nami Activities Timeline of the week

What's next:
More Garba practice, placement prep with realistic optimism, and keeping Room 404's non-veg experiments interesting (both food and philosophy).

From illness to Garba, from placement anxiety to organic tea moments, this is the messy, beautiful journey we're on together.
